Traditional Black and White 35mm Photography Workshop at De La Salle High School

Image
I had the great honour and privilege to bring De La Salle high school's Darkroom back to life after almost 10 years of not being in use. I, myself, spent many days and nights in this darkroom. I felt a sense of duty and took charge of 3 groupes a day for a week. We shot with 35mm manuel cameras, processed the film and produced 8x10 with the newly revamped enlargers... WOW what a great week. Students got right into it with some amazing results. It's always fun to meet up with old friends. Emanuelle and I went to the same high school ways back in the 90's. We crossed paths over the years but never really had the chance to hang out. Well, a photoshoot was the perfect opportunity to catch up. Here are some of the highlights...

Haliburton Highland 2014

Image
Haliburton has a soft spot in my heart. It's wild country and beautiful setting is one I've been going to since the young age of 2. Lake Kashagawigamog has always welcomed me with beauty and it's amazing night sky. Here are some of the images from my last adventure to this land, from Bancroft to Minden, from the Gull river to The Haliburton Forest's Wolf centre... I will always love this place.

Spring into Summer...June into July

Image
After coming off a great spring season and the highs of Nova Scotia. The punches kept rolling into Summer. Kicking everything off with a Solstice Party in Tamworth Ontario moving right along to Charleston Lake Provincial Park. Small break back home then came to Vars Ontario for Canada Day and finally some boys time, up at the Cottage in Papineau Labelle on beautiful and wild Earhart Lake. Staying with the triptychs here are some highlight...

Nova Scotia: 3 Friends, 1 Week, 1 Province

Image
Spring started with a Bang... meeting up with friends in Nova Scotia. Peter was in from Vancouver, Pat in from Switzerland and myself from Montreal. It had been a long time since we hang out. But, let me tell you this was not one to be missed. From Halifax to the Annapolis Valley, From Kejimkujik National Park to The South Shore and Lunenburg. This trek was perfect, the weather varied the whole time, but that never stopped us; calling owls in the night and watching the sun set on the beach. Friendship, Photography and the open road. A trip not shortly forgotten... That's for sure...

Ontario ReMastered...

Image
My good friends over at Bon Eco Design in Tamworth Ontario are continuing to push "community survival through the creation of regional vibrancy" and focus on "creative opportunities embedded in discarded material" Something I think everybody can identify with. Also something I try to balance in my creations. This said, I stayed at Bon Eco Design for a good portion of the summer of 2012. Where I discovered a land I never knew. As many know my life on the road has been from coast to coast and back again. But, something hit a cord in my gravitation to this area, the landscape, the people... Hoping that this short video gives a greater understanding of the vibrancy felt when a landscape and an artist feed off each others energy.   Also be sure to check out the redesigned Bon Eco website... Looks at what's new, the beautiful wide variety the portfolios and services these creative minds have got going on. A regular creative destination for me. Watching many of

Winterlude 2014

Image
The call out was "Winter Memory", the installation was a cabin... What to do? Well my greatest memories of Winter cabins was not the cabin itself but experiencing the outdoor. The most vivid being the night's sky, as it was the 1st time I ever saw the Northern Light and the 1st time someone told me all about the constellations.  So then came the challenge to bring the outdoors indoor. The other challenge was to break out of my comfort zone and do more then photography. Here was my chance to dive back into graffiti art, stencilling and still present some photography all under the same little 8x8x8 space. Also created a star column presented as a rotating pot belly stove, some journal entry inspired word with black light... There you have it: Written in the Stars  Interviews: CBC Radio & TV, Ottawa Citizen, Météo Média & Weather network
