Lachute en Blues 2010

Image
After a couple of weeks on the road, I came home to a very different surprise. Cécile had a few cold one ready for me... But wait... My photography is on this beer! CC had just got back from playing Lachute en Blues. A local brewery ( brasseurs illimités ) had made special beer labels for this festival. The blond beer, was Cécile. A good look, for a good beer.

Under Pressure 2010

Image
Spending a wet Sunday afternoon checking out the graffers, skaters and breakers hanging out @ Under Pressure 2010. The light was dull and the place was packed, but I got some shots worth showing. Processed in Xprocess just like the old Kodachrome days. This adds some magenta colouring to this doughy day’s lighting. This illuminates a little better the mood of the peoples and arts displayed.

Fort Coulonge 2010

Image
The Coulonge river, a beauty and legend of it’s own.  See Wiki article to understand the importance of this river to the Pontiac area.  Lucky for me this has been a yearly destination for OMG, 15 years! Like they say; time flies when your having fun. Can’t even count the number of times I’ve floated down this river in nothing but a life jacket. This year I was not able to do so as the river was the lowest I’ve ever seen it. Still got wet, both by the rain and the comforting water of the Coulonge. Enjoy the video of my week spent on the farm and I’ve also added some of the stills.

Going Big Part 2

CanvasPop Round 2: This time the request came from my Mama & Papa. Even with all the support over the years, they are so proud of me they wanted to show off a bit with a big print for the Living room. This print is part of the collection: Paris 2010. Now updated in the portfolios on the site. Merci Mama et Papa. Je vous aime.

Janx + Montréal = Home

Image
After a whole life lived in the Ottawa/Outaouais valley, Janx is now a Montréalais. I’ve been going back and forth between Hull and Montréal for years. So once things feel at the National Gallery and a change was needed, it’s only fitting that I end up in this city. Took my time to get settle in. Now I’ve got the Studio set up, worked hard on updating all my information, photos and link on the website. So today I get away from the apartment and my hermit lifestyle to get out in the streets and test out the camera with my new city called home. Helps having talented friends (Ève & Emily) performing @ Just pour Rire.

National Gallery of Canada

Three years later, Jamie’s leaving the education department of the National Gallery of Canada. Changes have come to the department, and I must move on. Today was my last day. I’m sad it happened this way. I had three great years here. Giving guided tours, in community workshops, studio workshops and kiosks for ALL age groups. This environment has pushed me to get back to many art forms I had forgotten; Silk Screening, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpting and pretty much anything else you can think of in the visual art world. Worked with some amazing people, experienced some world class art first hand, but now it’s time. Much love to all of you, I learned so much in such a little time. images courtesy of Staff, Rebecca Miller & MIV Photography for the National Gallery of Canada
